The Meaning of Jaapom

The name Jaapom originates from the sacred expression “Jaap OM“, which means the chanting of OM. But what is OM?

OM is regarded as the first divine sound of the Supreme Lord. In the primordial state, when nothing existed except God Himself, there was no need for sound, language, or communication. Then, through His divine contemplation, the Lord envisioned creation. As His thoughts expanded, the universe began to manifest.

Gradually, creation evolved and flourished. In time, consciousness awakened within the created beings. They realized that an unseen Creator must be the source of their existence. Driven by a deep longing to know their origin, they began searching for the One who had brought them into being.

After a long quest, they arrived before a radiant and magnificent Divine Light. Standing in awe, they asked, “Who are You?”

For the first time, the Supreme Lord broke His silence. From the depths of His eternal being emerged a sacred vibration that echoed throughout existence:

OM… OM… OM…

That divine resonance became the eternal sound of creation, the vibration through which all life is connected to its source.
